The Lady Jackets (11-14, 1-4) came out strong and overpowered the Lady Cobras for three quarters. Enterprise led at halftime 24-21 and increased their lead 35-26 after three quarters of action.

In the fourth quarter, Wesson (9-10. 2-2) outscored the Lady Jackets 25-8. The Lady Cobras used their speed and defensive pressure to wear down Enterprise.

Junior guards Brandi McInnis and Corianna Young contributed 10 points apiece in Wesson’s comeback. Jashia Smith was the leader on the boards with 8 rebounds.

“We played very sluggish for three quarters,” said Wesson coach Rusti Magee. “In the fourth quarter, the girls played like they were supposed to. They gave me everything that they had to get the win. I am proud of their effort.”

The Lady Jackets were disappointed by the setback.

“My girls played hard for three quarters,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations. “We ran into a wall in the fourth quarter and struggled to score.

“We missed too many scoring opportunities in the paint and had too many turnovers. We must regroup and get ready for Amite County.”

Senior forward Caroleah Brister was the offensive leader for the Lady Jackets with a game-high 14 points. Senior center Veonka Sanders paced Enterprise on the boards with 12 rebounds and scored 8 points.

The Wesson Cobras had too much offensive firepower for the Jackets to handle. Wesson lit up the scoreboard in the first quarter to take a 21-5 lead and cruised to the win.

The Cobras (15-7, 3-1) had three players reach double figures. Terry Brown directed the onslaught with 13 points. Tanner Allen netted 12 points and Dartavious Dixon had 11. Cullen Greer was the leader on the boards with 7 rebounds.

“Our defensive pressure was the difference in the game,” said Wesson coach Rusty Newman. “The guys did a good job forcing Enterprise’s turnovers to get some easy transition baskets. Overall, I am glad to get the win and give everyone some playing time.”

Junior center Forrest Scott was the top scorer for the Jackets (7-15, 0-5) with a game-high 17 points. Ethan Newman led on the boards with 10 rebounds and chipped in 8 points.

“My kids played a lot better offensively tonight,” said Enterprise coach John Knight. “We still have a lot of work to do to improve our shooting percentages.

“Overall, we did not play very well defensively. We need to learn to give 100 percentage effort on both ends of the court.”

In junior varsity action, the Wesson Cobras and Lady Cobras were victorious over Enterprise.

In girls action, the Lady Cobras edged the Lady Jackets 18-15. Madie Coleman led Wesson with 10 points. Alyssa Barlow directed Enterprise with 6 points.

In the boys game, Wesson crushed Enterprise 50-14. The Cobras had three players score in double figures. Eric Rhymes and Tyler Christmas were the offensive leaders with 11 points apiece. Ethan Harris provided 10 points.

Dewayne Pendleton was the top scorer for the Jackets with 4 points.
