Enterprise girls win big against East Marion

Senior guard Caroleah Brister pumped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals to lead three players in double figures as the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets stung the East Marion Lady Eagles 52-31 in Region 7-2A basketball action Friday night at Enterprise Gymnasium.
In the boys game, the Eagles cruised past the Jackets 63-16.
Enterprise resumes action Tuesday. They host Lincoln County rival, Bogue Chitto for four games. The junior high girls tip off at 4 p.m., followed by the boys.
The varsity girls begin at 6 p.m., followed by the boys.
Enterprise 52, E. Marion 31
The Lady Jackets (7-5, 1-1) came out strong and overpowered the Lady Eagles in the first half to command a 23-9 lead at halftime.
Senior center Veonka Sanders chipped in a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. She also had 4 blocked shots. Carley Price contributed 11 points and had 7 rebounds.
“It is great to get our first region win,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations. “The girls played hard and hustled. We also shot the ball much better.”
Junior forward Alahna Pace directed the Lady Eagles with 15 points.
E. Marion 63, Enterprise 16
The Eagles (7-3, 1-0) flexed their basketball muscles to secure their first win in region play.
Shavonte Coleman directed the charge for East Marion with 19 points. Marquise Williams netted 12 points and Katron Allen had 10.
