Lady Hornets blank Wesson

Mallory Holden scored three goals in sparking the Loyd Star Lady Hornets to a 4-0 shutout win against Wesson’s Lady Cobras at the Hansel King Sportsplex. Lesley Walker also scored for Loyd Star.

     Loyd Star goalie Haleigh Hux made 3 saves. Walker had 1 assist and 1 steal. Miranda Britt also made a steal.

     Loyd Star’s boys beat Wesson 4-1, led by Seth Farmer’s 2 goals. Brandon Canny scored 1 goal. Braden Smith added 1 goal, 1 assist and 1 blocked shot.

     On defense, the Hornets were led by Brendyn Brister with 7 take-aways and 7 clearances; followed by Jake Case with 3 take-aways, 5 clearances and 1 blocked shot. Devlin Terry had 1 take-away and 5 clearances. Jordan Michele had 4 take-aways, 1 clearance and 1 blocked shot. Goalie Cole Moak had 3 saves and 1 clearance.

     Loyd Star, coached by Bobo Douglas (girls) and Dale Brister (boys), resumes play Friday at Franklin County in Meadville.
