Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Lowery Williams Jr., of Tekamah, Neb., are 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the United Methodist Church in Tekamah, with military honors by VFW Bataan Post No. 3304 and American Legion LaFrenz Post No. 15. Burial is in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont, Neb. The Rev. Philip Sloat will officiate. Diane Sheets, soloist, and Donna Palmer, organist, will bring the special music. Pelan Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Williams, 96, passed away Sept. 30, 2012, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Neb. He was born in Wesson on June 30, 1916, to Margaret Louisa (Hartley) and Robert Lowery Williams Sr.
He was retired from Local 464 Omaha Steamfitters & Plumbers and was a 64-year member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada. Following his retirement, he loved to restore antique cars and trucks. He also loved to hunt and had an excellent eye for good horses and enjoyed the horse industry for many years. He loved taking his daughter to many competitions throughout the Midwest and South. Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Navy for six years during World War II.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Dovie Margaret Williams Phillips and Dicie Williams Johns; brother, Elias Leon Williams and wives, Dean Robertson Williams, Alberta Whitaker Williams and Evelyn Donscheski Williams.
Survivors are his daughter, Deane Ann “Peachie” Williams of Tekamah, Neb.; sister-in-law, Marjorie Williams, of Wesson; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Priscilla Hansen, of Fremont, Neb.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or donor’s choice.
