Lincoln Co. Americans romp past Moss Point

HATTIESBURG — Tucker Lambert smashed a first-inning home run and three Lincoln County pitchers combined on a 2-hiter Monday, leading their American League all-star team to a 17-4 victory against Moss Point in the second round of the Dixie Youth Baseball Major 12s State Tournament at Larry Doleac Youth Sports Complex. Lincoln County continues its march through the losers bracket tonight, meeting the Hattiesburg Americans who lost to the Laurel Nationals last night. Game time is 8 p.m.
“We definitely needed a win,” said Lincoln County coach David Flowers. “I told our kids to hit the ball and good things happen.”
Lincoln County starting pitcher Brandon Lang (5K, 0BB) set the pace yesterday. He held Moss Point to 2 hits in 3 innings of mound duty.
Tyler Mixon (0K, 2BB) started the fourth inning in place of Lang and gave up 2 runs, 1 of them earned. Lambert (2K, 1BB) finished the fourth and allowed 1 run.
At the plate, Parker Flowers hit a first-inning triple for Lincoln Co. and later singled. Keith Robinson singled twice. Mixon, Lang and Price King singled.
Jerry Johnson (3K, 4BB) started on the mound for Moss Point and took the loss. He gave up 2 hits and 4 runs, 2 of them earned.
Joseph Nicholson (1K, 4BB) and Ke’Andre Booker (1K, 0BB) provided relief. Booker gave up 5 hits and 4 runs in the fourth.
Moss Point got singles from Carlos Matthews and D’Yasmond Baker.
