Funeral services for Acie S. Thornill, ofBaton Rouge, La., are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Jones FamilyFuneral Services in McComb, with burial in Hollywood Cemetery. TheRev. Mark Carroll will be officiating.
Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 until11 a.m., both at the funeral home.
Mr. Thornhill, 84, died Feb. 15, 2012, at Carpenter House in BatonRouge. He was born in Summit on Feb. 12, 1928, to Elias L.Thornhill and Alta Almeda Brister.
He retired from The Greyhound Lines after 28 years. He was a memberof the Holiday Ramblers RV Club, the Masonic Lodge #241 inBrookhaven and of Moaks Creek Baptist Church in Summit. Mr.Thornhill was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the KoreanWar.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Alta GailBegue; four brothers, Herschal Thornhill, Woodrow Thornhill, J.C.Thornhill and E.L. Thornhill Jr.; and three sisters, Dessie White,Mary Myrtle O’Quin and Annie Bell Moak
Survivors are his sons, Acie S. Thornhill Jr. and wife, Joyce, ofLaurel, Eddie L. Thornhill and wife, Paula, of Walker, La., andDavid Q. Thornhill and wife, Elizabeth, of Alvin, Texas; sister,Eva T. Cornwell, of McComb; 10 grandchildren, April ThornhillAinsworth, Alan Thornhill, Jon Crawford, Kimberly Pagel, NathanCrawford, Tammy Thornhill, Brian Thornhill, Andrew Thornhill, EvenThornhill and Owen Thornhill and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbeares will be his grandsons and former employees of GreyhoundBus Line.
