Funeral services for Canie Bryan Smith, ofMeadville, were 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29, at Franklin FuneralHome, with burial in Midway Cemetery.

    Visitation was Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

    Mrs. Smith, 89, died Sept. 26, 2011, at Franklin County MemorialHospital. She was born in Carthage on Dec. 7, 1921, to William Iraand S.C. Harkins Flowers.

    She was a retired secretary at Stahl-Urban and a member of HopewellBaptist Church.

    Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, WilliamHouston Bryan; second husband, Odie E. Smith; son, William H.Bryan; daughters, Linda Sue Ezell and Faye Ann Bourgh; grandson,Bryan Allen Lee; two sisters; and four brothers.

    Survivors are her sons, James Dale Bryan and wife, Linda, of McCallCreek, and Robert Wilson “Bob” Bryan and wife Cynthia, ofBrookhaven; daughter, Kathy Lee and husband, Allen, of McCallCreek; brother, William J. Flowers, of Philadelphia; sisters,Dorothy Newman, of Baton Rouge, La., and Jeannette Kelly, of Rice,Texas; and a number of grandchildren.
