Second body recovered in drownings

MEADVILLE – The second of two victims of a drowning incidentSaturday at Okhissa Lake was recovered Monday morning, saidFranklin County Sheriff James Newman.
“Divers found and recovered the second body this morning around10:30,” Newman said Monday afternoon.
Newman identified the victim as Bobby O’Quinn.
O’Quinn, 19, was a former all-state lineman for Franklin CountyHigh School and was a freshman at Copiah-Lincoln CommunityCollege.
O’Quinn died after trying to save two girls who were swimmingSaturday at the recreational lake. He managed to save one of thechildren, but not the second.
“They had gone out to the outer perimeter (of the swimming area)and went down,” Newman said.
Newman identified the first drowning victim as Audrienna ShenteeLofton, 7, of Jackson. Her body was recovered from the lakeSaturday around 6:30 p.m.
Newman did not have the name of the other child who was swimming inthe lake.
The sheriff described the weekend incident as “a terribletragedy.”
“Our prayers and hearts go out to the families during this terribletime,” he said.
