Lady Tigers rip Ole Brook

The McComb Lady Tigers’ bats caught fire as they ripped throughthe Brookhaven Lady Panthers 7-2 Thursday night in Region 5-5Asoftball action at the Brookhaven Softball Complex.
“We hit the ball really well,” said McComb coach Cody Hall. “MeganConey had a good pitching performance. I am proud of the girls’effort. They did what it took to win the game.”
The Lady Panthers resume action Saturday as they will participatein Loyd Star’s softball tournament. Brookhaven battles Bogue Chittoat 11:45 a.m.

The Lady Tigers (8-5-1, 1-1) jumped on Ole Brook early in the firstinning scoring three runs to set the tone. The Lady Panthersanswered back in the bottom of the first with two runs.
McComb added some insurance runs in the fourth and seventh inningsto prevail with a huge district win. Ole Brook committed sevenerrors for the game.
Megan Coney was the winning pitcher for the Lady Tigers with sevenstrikeouts and two walks. Brooke Hosick suffered the setback forthe Lady Panthers with two strikeouts and no walks.
Annie Artigues provided the offensive firepower for McComb with atriple and three singles. Danielle Farnum and Breann Talbertcontributed the ammunition with a triple and two singles apiece.The Lady Tigers got two singles each from Leyton Terrell and Coney.Hitting safely were Kamry Creel and Victoria Price.
Erica Bridwell was the offensive leader for Brookhaven with twosingles. Madeline DeLaughter belted a double. Sarah Ayers andShelby Peavey smashed a single apiece.
“You cannot have errors against a good team and expect to win,”said Brookhaven coach Chad Walker.
In JV action, The Lady Panthers held off McComb for a 3-1 victory.Katherine Shell pitched the win collecting four strikeouts and onewalk.
Farnum was the losing pitcher with five strikeouts and fourwalks.
Brookhaven was led offensively with singles from Ivy Smith andMandy Jackson.
