Enterprise clips BHS; Lady Panthers whip WL

The host Brookhaven Lady Panthers picked-up a split during adoubleheader in softball action Monday night against Enterprise andWest Lincoln. The Enterprise Lady Jackets rallied to beat Ole Brook5-4 in the first game and the Lady Panthers cruised past the LadyBears 14-4 in the nightcap.
“We did a good job bouncing back to win the second game,” saidBrookhaven coach Chad Walker. “We did a great job hitting the ballwhen we had runners on base.”
The Lady Panthers (4-2) return to the diamond Thursday, as theytravel to Bogue Chitto to face to Lady Cats. Junior varsity actionstarts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6 p.m.
The Jackets (1-0) resume action today, hosting an division 6-2Amatchup against the Puckett Lady Wolves. Game time is at 5 p.m. forjunior varsity and 6 p.m. for varsity.
The Lady Bears (2-2) will have a long spring break before returningto action, March 22, hosting the Tylertown Lady Chiefs. The juniorvarsity squad will be action Saturday, traveling to participate inSalem Tournament.
Enterprise 5, Brookhaven 4
The Jackets rallied in the fourth inning scoring; four run tocaptured the lead from Brookhaven 4-3. The Lady Panthers foughthard to tie the game in the sixth inning in hopes of forcing extrainnings. In the seventh inning, Enterprise’s senior catcher KarlaBeth Hux scored the winning run, when teammate Taylor Nelson hit asingle to right field.
Nelson was the winning pitcher in relief of starter Chynna Coghlan,with three strike and three walks. Coghlan recorded two strikeouts,no walks and one hit batter.
Junior Brooke Hosick suffered the set back for the Lady Pantherswith two strikeouts and four walks.
K.B. Hux was the offensive leader for Enterprise with two doubles.Nelson contributed a double as well. Coghlan belted two singles.Kelsey Hux hit safely.
“I am proud to get our first win to start the season,” saidEnterprise head coach Charissa Burke. “The girls did a great jobstepping up to get the job done.”
Brookhaven was led on offense by Sarah Ayers and Shelby Peavey withtwo singles apiece.
“You cannot make mistakes when you play against a good team,” saidWalker.
Brookhaven 14, West Lincoln 4
The Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Bears 11-4 in the first threeinnings en route to a 14-4 victory.
Seventh grader Katherine Shell was the winning pitcher forBrookhaven with two strikeouts and 4 walks. Eighth grader MicahRedd absorbed the loss for West Lincoln with four strikeouts andfive walks.
Junior shortstop Erica Bridwell produced the offensive firepowerfor the Lady Panthers with a triple, a double and two singles.Ayers belted a home run and two singles. Christen Benson hit adouble. Peavey contributed two singles. Hitting safely wereMadeline DeLaughter, Erica Lenior and Shelby Case.
Senior shortstop Alexis Cook was the leader for the Lady Bears withtwo doubles. Malori Hall and Brianna Fauver provided a doubleapiece. West Lincoln received singles from Haley Ainsworth, MarisaPruski and Beth Montgomery.
