Funeral services for Betty June Ainsworth Batson, of Brookhaven,are 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29, at Riverwood Family Funeral ServiceChapel.
Visitation is Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service atthe funeral home.
Mrs. Batson, 75, died Aug. 26, 2010, at her residence. She was bornin Mississippi on June 6, 1935, to Henry Harrison Ainsworth andLillian Marie Ainsworth.
She spent her childhood on the family farm in the East Lincolncommunity. She was a highest honors graduate of Brookhaven HighSchool and was secretarial management with Oil Well Supply Companyuntil she opened Betty Ann’s Fashions in the 1970s.
After selling her ownership, she continued her career in thebusiness for over 30 years. She enjoyed the many friendships shemade through years of sharing her talent and passion for fashionand wedding consulting.
Mrs. Batson was an active member of First Baptist Church inBrookhaven, where she enjoyed lending her creative talents on thedecoration committee and participating in the fellowship activitieswith her special friends of her Sunday school class of over 40years.
She enjoyed following her grandson’s tennis and his schoolactivities and also enjoyed reading and playing bridge. In lateryears, she enjoyed traveling with friends. She was known for herold-fashioned baking skills, especially her delicious chocolate andpecan pies.
Her life’s joy and fulfillment was her devotion and love as amother and grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and LillianAinsworth; one sister; one brother; and her husband of 52 years,Jerry Madison Batson.
Survivors are her daughter, Amy Batson Baker and husband, Dr. MacBaker; and her grandson, Jake Baker.
