James William ‘Jim’ Kesner

James William “Jim” Kesner, 91, passed away June 11, 2010, inMurfreesboro, Tenn.
A beloved husband, father, and man of faith, he is survived by hiswife of 69 years, Naomi Ruth Furr Kesner; his sons, James RobertKesner and wife Fay, of Fairborn, Ohio, and John William Kesner andwife Rita, of Severna Park, Md.; his daughter, Naomi Joyce Adams,of Murfreesboro; and his five grandchildren and fourgreat-grandchildren.
A native of Indiana, he moved to Brookhaven in 1940 to work withStahl-Urban Manufacturing Co., transferring to Shelbyville, Tenn.,in 1957 as plant manager with Model Sportswear. Returning toBrookhaven in 1973, he completed his career with Stahl-Urban. Hewas a United States Navy veteran during World War II and a memberof the Lions Club for 65 years. He helped organize the first CubScout troop for Brookhaven. He was an active member of the FirstBaptist Church of Brookhaven and Shelbyville, serving each churchas a deacon, Sunday school teacher and treasurer. He enjoyedfishing and travel, being the tour director for over 65 trips forseniors.
Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, atthe First Baptist Church of Shelbyville, followed by the funeralservice at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest MemorialGardens in Shelbyville.
