Smith recalled as conscientious D-4 supervisor

Former Lincoln County District Four Supervisor Ramsey Smith, 80,died Wednesday at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
Smith served two terms as supervisor from 1980 until 1988.
Former Lincoln County Chancery Clerk J. Ronny Smith recalled Smithas a “great guy.”
“He was a longtime friend before we were in politics together,”Smith said. “He was always ready to help everyone.”
Smith described Smith as a frugal but caring public official.
“He was very cost conscience and forward thinking for the county,”Smith explained. “He was very conservative and concerned about thetaxpayers’ money. He served eight years and I thought he was one ofour best. When you lose someone like that it’s a loss to thecommunity and the county.”
Smith was retired and a veteran of the United States Army. He was amember of New Prospect Baptist Church.
Smith’s wife, Dorothy Jean Smith survives him, as well as childrenDonnie Ramsey Smith, Sandra Hambach, Debbie Hill and Pam Case, andnumerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services for Smith are under the direction of Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service and will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at NewProspect Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
