Services for the Rev. Willie Darnell Archie, of Petal, are 2p.m. Thursday, May 13, at Sunrise Baptist Church in Petal, withburial in Indian Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Petal.Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home,and on Thursday at the church from noon until the time of theservice.

The Rev. Archie, 74, died May 10, 2010, at Forrest General Hospitalin Hattiesburg. He was born in Union on Feb. 7, 1936, to VernaArchie and Alafair Dorman Archie.

He was a retired minister, having pastored churches through theyears at Mt. Zion Baptist in Meridian, Topeka Baptist inMississippi, St. Stephens in Alabama, First Baptist Orofino inIdaho; Magee’s Creek Baptist in Tylertown, Bogue Chitto Baptist inBogue Chitto, First Baptist in Bude, and was interim pastor atMoak’s Creek Baptist and Bogue Chitto Baptist, both in BogueChitto. He was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his sisters, Berniceand Dorothy.

Survivors are his wife, Bernice Spiers Archie, of Petal; his son,Chris Archie and wife Nancy, of Daphne, Ala.; his daughters,Elizabeth Murphy and husband Kelsey, and Deborah Lewis and husbandKelton, all of Petal; and his seven grandchildren.
