Martin records 12 strikeouts to lead Bobcats over Bears

BOGUE CHITTO – Powering by winning pitcher Michael Martin’s 12strikeouts, 2 walks and 2 hit batters, the Bogue Chitto Bobcatsdefeated the West Lincoln Bears 8-3 in Region 7-1A varsity baseballaction Tuesday night.
Thursday night, Bogue Chitto (4-9, 1-4) visits West Lincoln (3-10,0-3) for a varsity twinbill. The first game kicks off at 4:30p.m.
“Michael threw a great game,” said Bogue Chitto first-year baseballcoach Jody Britt. “We finally started swing the bats prettygood.”
Absorbing the loss was Tyler Case with 6 strikeouts, 6 walks and 2hits batters.
“Martin threw a great game,” said West Lincoln coach SteveBarrington. “Bogue Chitto made the timely hits tonight.”
Powering the Bobcats at the plate with a home run and a single wasGarrett Wallace. Homering was Brock Roberts. Hunter Ginn doubledand singled. Ripping a pair of singles was Zach Avants. ColtonMcClendon doubled. Singling were Brice Roberts and Martin.
For the Bears, Jeremy Buckley led with a double and a single. ZachBowman doubled. Hitting safely were Jonathan Buckley, Sawyer Pepperand Landry Barrilleaux.
Junior varsity action
Bogue Chitto handed West Lincoln a 10-2 loss.
The Bobcats were led by Cole Laird with a triple and a double.Keith Wells tripled. Doubling and singling was Brock Roberts.Shiloh Martin singled twice.
Jacob Lea tripled and doubled for the Bears. Josh Herring, JonathanBuckley and Tyler Roberts each singled twice.
