Services for the Rev. Troy L. Massey Sr., of Bogue Chitto, are10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with burialin the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

The Rev. Massey, 67, died Sept. 25, 2009, at his residence. Hewas born on July 3, 1942, to Clyde Massey and Frances BurrageMassey.

He graduated from East Texas Baptist University in Marshall,Texas, and recieved his post-graduate degree at New Orleans BaptistTheological Seminary. He was a retired minister and member of Mt.Moriah Baptist Church.

The Rev. Massey served Southern Baptist churches in Alabama,Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Wyoming, Florida, Maryland andPennsylvania. He also served as director of missions for SouthCentral Baptist Association in Pennsylvania for eight years.

He was also commissioned by the North American Mission Board ofthe Southern Baptist Convention. He was a member of the MississippiBaptist Chaplains Association and the Lions Club of Quarryville,Pa. He was a former trustee of New Orleans Baptist TheologicalSeminary.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Clyde and FrancesMassey; his sister, Maxine Shirley; and his father-in-law andmother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Smalley, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Survivors are his wife, Sandra Smalley Massey; his son, Troy L.Massey Jr. and wife, Lena, of Waskom, Texas; his daughters, TerriEsch and husband, Clint, of Bogue Chitto, and Tracy Bell andhusband, Darrell, of Jackson; his brother, James Massey and wife,Carolyn, of Coker, Ala.; his sister, Reba Sellers and husband,Troy, of Cottondale, Ala.; and his grandchildren, Brooke and TreyEsch, Jordan and Peyton Bell, and Haleigh Massey.

Pallbearers will be Troy L. Massey Jr., James Massey, TroySellers, Clint Esch, Robbie Thibodeaux, Caleb Bonds, Jamie Rippy,Marvin White, Greg McCaffrey, Carroll Esch, Jimmy Martin and KoreyWhite.

Honorary pallbearers are the men of Mt. Moriah BaptistChurch.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 814 MarwoodLoop SE, Bogue Chitto, MS 39629.
