Clinton’s Delphi plant to close at end of the year

The Delphi Packard facility in Clinton will cease operation byyear’s end, a company spokesman announced Wednesday.
Communications director Rachelle Valdez said the Jacksonmetro-area plant is scheduled to close on or about Dec. 31 becauseof declining customer demand for the cable and connection systemsmanufactured there coupled with general economic conditions inNorth America. The facility employs 280 people, she said.
Valdez said Delphi’s Brookhaven plant would not be affected bythe closure.
