Services for Charles Joseph Serio, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Friday, July 3, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church inBrookhaven with burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome on Natchez Drive with rosary at 7 p.m.
Mr. Serio, 85, died July 1, 2009, at his residence. He was bornin Brookhaven on Feb. 9, 1924, to Sam Serio and Frances DamicoSerio.
He was co-owner of Serio’s Grocery Store in Brookhaven and tooksuch pride in the amount of oysters he could shuck. Serio’s is alegacy that began in 1917 and the family ran the business together.However after the deaths of their siblings, Charlie and RosalieSerio supported each other in managing the store. He was a memberof St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Anyone that knows, has”been knowin'” that Charlie will be missed by all those he touchedwith his loving kindness.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Carmelloand Jimmy Serio; and his sisters, Lena, Santa and Josephine.
Survivors are a sister, Rosalie Serio, of Brookhaven; hisnephews, Sammy Serio and Mike Serio and wife, Sue; and a specialfriend, Linda Smith.
