Kennedy fans 15 batters in triumph over Loyd Star

Ryan Kennedy hurled a 15-strikeout, 1-hitter Tuesday, directingthe Enterprise Yellow Jackets to a 6-3 victory against Loyd Star’sHornets in a Division 6-2A showdown. Kennedy (3-1), a seniorsouthpaw, walked 4 batters and hit 2.
Losing pitcher Drew Weaver gave up 6 hits, walked 3 and fanned8. Weaver, a right-hander, also has signed with Co-Lin.
Jarrett Todd slugged a 2-run homer for Enterprise in the bottomof the first inning.
The Jackets scored twice in the third and took a 4-2 lead. Tworuns scored on squeeze plays as Trent Herrington and Kennedyprovided the critical bunts.
Loyd Star got a home run from catcher Travis Keene.
“That was a big turning point for us when we scored twice onsqueeze plays,” said Enterprise coach Cass Brister, a 2002 LoydStar graduate.
“It was a big win for us,” said Brister. “We had another greatpitching performance from Ryan and our defense played well.”
Loyd Star coach Jonathan Breakfield said Kennedy had animpressive performance. “Kennedy threw the ball great. It was thesharpest I have seen his breaking ball.”
Kennedy has amassed 31 strikeouts in the last 2 games.
“Give Enterprise credit,” Breakfield added. “They found ways toget their runners in and we didn’t.”
Enterprise climbed to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the Divisionrace.
Enterprise visits Loyd Star (9-5, 3-2) Friday for a single game,weather permitting
Junior Varsity Results
In a preliminary JV game, Enterprise won 7-5. Cody White pitchedthe victory. He also singled and doubled.
Konner Burke doubled for the Jackets. Jedd Moak singled.
