The 2009 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will be heldSaturday at 6 p.m. at Alexander Junior High School.

The Rev. Victor Mackabee will be guest speaker for the event,which is being sponsored by the Mu Pi Lambda chapter of Alpha PhiAlpha Fraternity, Inc.

Mackabee is the pastor of New Hope M.B. Church. He is married toRuby Crockett Mackabee and they have three children: Alxavier,Lartarvas and Victoria.

He is president of the Greater Hope Foundation, an outreachministry that aids those in need of spiritual or physicalassistance. In addition to programs through his church, Mackabeeoversees ACTIVATION JESUS (Administer Christian Training andInstruction for Victory Against Temptation in our Nation) andHabitual Walkers; the programs assist youth in good manners andencourage them to live Godly lives.
