LIBERTY — Brookhaven Academy defeated Amite School Center 9-1Saturday and clinched the MPSA Class AA-AAA State SlowpitchSoftball Tournament championship. The Lady Cougars went undefeatedin three tournament games.

“We had a good day,” said BA coach Ricky Allen.

In other action, the Lady Cougars beat ACCS 7-2 in the opener.They knocked off ASC 6-1. ASC eliminated Parklane and got a rematchin the double-elimination tournament.

“Our girls played great defense today,” said Allen who has beencoaching the team for four years. He said rightfielder Betsy Lynch,right-center fielder Layne Jordan, shortstop Laura Beth Wright andsecond baseman Laina Laird made the all-tournament team.

The Lady Cougars finish 16-4 on the season.
