Hattie Bell Beasley

Services for Hattie Bell Beasley, of Hazlehurst, were 2 p.m.Saturday, April 19, at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Hazlehurst withburial in St. Peter Church of Christ (Holiness) Cemetery. MarshallFuneral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Beasley, 79, died April 10, 2008, at Pine Crest Guest Home.She was born in Franklin County on Oct. 1, 1929, to Douglas Beasleyand Ada Beasley.

Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters; and fivebrothers.

Survivors are her sisters, Frances Gilmore, of Monticello, andDaisy Mae Spencer and Susie Holmes, of Hazlehurst; her brothers,Bennie Beasley, of New Orleans, La., and Burnell Beasley, ofChicago, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives andfriends.

Sara A. Brister

Services for Sara Amy Brister, of Jayess, are 2 p.m. Sunday,April 20, at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb with burial in GreerCemetery in Jayess. The Revs. Lonnie Case and Kenneth Patten willofficiate.

Visitation was Saturday from 5 until 8 p.m. and will continue onSunday from noon until the time of the service at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Brister, 83, died April 18, 2008, at McComb Nursing andRehabilitation Center. She was born in Harrisburg, Pa. on Nov. 23,1924, to John Nesley and Stella Gaugler Nesley.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed serving her community andfriends. She was a member of Jayess Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two grandchildren,Tausha Ann Brister and Willie Earl Brister.

Survivors are her loving husband of 57 years, Charles RayBrister Sr.; her sons, Charles Brister Jr. and wife Wanda, ofLiberty, Karl J. Brister and wife Fran, of Brookhaven, and WylieBrister and James Brister, both of Jayess; her daughters, BettyAlexander and husband Benny, of Goodlettsville, Tenn., MargritWallace and husband Marlin, of Madison, Charlene Mott and husbandDavid, of LaRose, La., and Barbara Thomas and husband Harold, ofSummit; her brother, Jack Nesley and wife Shirley, of Pottstown,Pa.; her sisters, Pearl Shumate and Jeanett Shumate and husbandEdison, of Pottstown; 18 grandchildren; and 32great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Brister Jr., James Brister, KarlBrister, Charles Thomas, Avery Thomas and Harold Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Alexander, Byron Brister, KarlWayne Brister, Luke Baughtman, Caroll Duncan, Gary Stauffer andTodd Wallace.

Helen Burage

Services for Helen Burage, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. Monday,April 21, at Hopewell M.B. Church with burial in the churchcemetery. Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Burage, 71, died April 17, 2008, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. She was born on Nov. 23, 1936, to Willie Sandersand Mattie Sanders.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Hopewell M.B.Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, CalvinBurage; her son, Fredrick Burage; her brothers, Willie, Robert,Isaac, James and Eugene; and her sisters, Betty Faye, Janie Mae,Ruthie Lee and Lealer Mae.

Survivors are her daughters, Carolyn and husband Larry Mackbee,of Jackson, Callie and husband Robert Smith, of Brookhaven, andElizabeth and husband Bobby Jackson, of Brookhaven; her sons, RoyBurage and wife Melissa, of Little Rock, Ark., and Ferral Burageand wife Shelia, and Phillip Burage and wife Brittany, all ofBrookhaven; and her sisters, Lizzie Nell Tyler, Minnie B. Hardy,Estella Clark, and Maxine and husband L.C. Jackson, all ofBrookhaven; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

James (Larry) Hall

Services for James (Larry) Hall, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.Monday, April 21, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Wellman Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Hall, 63, died April 18, 2008, at his residence. He was bornon March 16, 1945, to Alexander Hall and Ella Mae Roberts Hall.

He was a boilermaker for Local 110. He was a member of WellmanBaptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and grandparents.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Lou Hall, of Brookhaven; his sons,Cory Hall and wife Michelle, Mike Nuckles and wife Susan, andDarryl Burris and wife April, all of Brookhaven; his daughter,Stephanie Hall Foster and husband John, of Brookhaven; his sister,Joyce McCoy and husband Ed, of Denham Springs, La.; and hisgrandchildren, Braxton Foster, Brooke Foster, Conner Hall, LaurenNuckles and Kailee Nuckles.

Bertha Regur Hickman

Services for Bertha Regur Hickman, of Brookhaven, will be heldat 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on NorthJackson Street with burial in Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven.

Visitation is Sunday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mrs. Hickman, 86, died peacefully at her home on April 17, 2008.She was born in Caseyville on April 7, 1922.

She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother andgreat-grandmother. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles P. Hickman; herfather, Curtis A. Regur; her mother, Bess Smith Regur Linton; herstepfather, Cecil Linton; her sister, Anna Regur Watkins; and herbrother, Clyde Regur.

Survivors are her sons, Curtis Hickman and wife Sue, of Watson,La., Wade Hickman Sr. and wife Martha of Mandeville, La., andMorgan Hickman and wife Carol, of Walker, La.; her daughters, JudyH. Jacobsen, and Shelley H. Grenn and husband Ronny, all ofBrookhaven, and Sandra Hickman, of Lafayette, La.; and her 11grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Lynne Johnson Price

Lynne Price, 75, of Brookhaven, died peacefully at her homeThursday, April 17, 2008.

Mrs. Price, widow of William Thomas “Hoppy” Price, was born inLincoln County to Clarence and Erle Jacks Johnson. She was a 1951graduate of Fair Oaks Springs High School and attended LouisianaState University. In 1967 she opened the Brookhaven franchise of H& R Block Tax Service and remained a tax consultant there untilher death.

She is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Mike andRebel Price Marzec of Memphis; Michael and April Price Brady, alsoof Memphis; and Richard and Lauri Price Swan of Rome, New York.”Mima” will be greatly missed by her granddaughter, Emi Brady; andher four grandsons: Boyer Brady, Will and Sam Swan, and KyleMarzec; and her great-granddaughter, Abby Swan. Mrs. Price leavesthree brothers: Edwin Johnson of Brookhaven; C.W. Johnson of Houma,Louisiana; and R.B. Johnson of Tylertown.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 until 7 at Brookhaven FuneralHome on Jackson Street. Graveside services will be at 11 o’clock onMonday, April 21 at Union Hall Baptist Church Cemetery.

Betty B. Thompson

Services for Betty B. Thompson, of Ruth, will be held at 2 p.m.on Sunday, April 20, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drivewith burial in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in LawrenceCounty.

Mrs. Thompson, 75, died April 15, 2008, at Lawrence CountyNursing Home. She was born in Cyril, Okla., on May 19, 1932, toArthur Buckalew and Lettie Slade Buckalew.

She was retired from Packard Electric and had been a machineoperator with Stahl-Urban. She was a member of Ruth BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles D.Thompson; her son, Phillip Thompson; her brother, James O.Buckalew; and her sister, Ruby Lynn.

Survivors are her sons, Wayne Thompson, of Ruth, David Thompson,of Bogue Chitto, and Carlos Thompson, of Plainsview, Texas; herdaughter, Judy Harrison, of Ruth; her sister, June Deaver, ofPurvis; her grandchildren, Patrick McCaffery, Chris McCaffery,Heather Dunaway, Kristi Frazier, Ronny Thompson, Brandi McCaffery,Nick Thompson and Dustin Thompson.
