Services for Sgt. 1st Class (Ret.) Johnnie James White, ofClarksville, Tenn. and formerly of Brookhaven, were Friday, Jan.18, at Fifth Ward Missionary Church in Clarksville with burial inKentucky Veteran Cemetery in West Hopkinsville, Ky. Foston FuneralHome was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. White, 59, died Jan. 14, 2008, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born on Aug. 27, 1948, to Robert Paul White andJosephine Porter White.

He was a 1966 graduate of Alexander High School and attendedMississippi Valley State College. He was retired from the U.S.Postal Service and was a member of Word of Life Ministries inClarksville, where he served as deacon and treasurer. He was aretired veteran of the U.S. Army after 23 years of honorableservice.

He received numerous Army awards, including the Army ServiceRibbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Good Conduct Medalwith seven stars, National Defense Service Medal with bronze star,Overseas Service Ribbon with two stars, and the Army CommendationMedal.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his brother, Robert”Bob” White.

Survivors are his wife, Linda White, of Clarksville; his son,Brian White, of Clarksville; his daughter, Adrienne Brown andhusband George, of Clarksville; his sisters, Anniebell Wilcher andhusband Samuel, of Brookhaven, and Sharon Buchanan and husbandGeorge, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; his brothers, Samuel White, ofClarksville, Clyde White and wife Robin, of Porage, Mich., andBobby White and wife Joyce, of Flint, Mich.; three grandchildren;and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
