Services for Hugh Vernon Strong, of Silver Creek, will be heldat 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel inMonticello with burial in Hepzibeh Baptist Church Cemetery inSilver Creek.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Strong, 82, died Jan. 10, 2008, at Lawrence County Hospital.He was born in Simpson County on Aug. 15, 1925, to Vernon Strongand Mittie Stringer Strong.

He was a retired truck driver and a member of Oakvale BaptistChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.

Survivors are his wife, Johnnie Evans Strong; his sons, TerryStrong, of Silver Creek, Dale Smith, of Pattison, and MichaelSmith, of Ponchatoula, La.; his daughters, Bobby Smith, of Magee,and Kathy Culpepper, of Bay Springs; his four grandchildren and onegreat-grandchild.
