Officials probe a.m. fatality

A Brookhaven man is dead after an early-morning incident onJackson-Liberty Road, authorities said.
Lincoln County officials said Brett Morgan, 49, of Brookhaven,was pronounced dead on the scene after being struck by a vehicle onJackson-Liberty Road just north of Bogue Chitto Road earlyThursday.
Morgan, who was not in a vehicle, had been at a relative’s houseearlier in the evening but had left several hours before the callcame in, Sheriff Steve Rushing said.
“We’re trying to run down information on where he was comingfrom and where he was going,” he said.
Coroner Clay McMorris said the death is still underinvestigation, but that an autopsy will be performed.
Rushing said the names of the driver of the vehicle and awitness are not being released pending completion of theinvestigation.
“We’re still trying to get everything sorted out,” he said. “Dueto the circumstances of the accident, we’re awaiting the autopsy todetermine the cause of death.”
McMorris and Rushing both said they hope that anyone who mighthave seen something unusual on Jackson-Liberty Road in the earlyhours of Thursday morning will come forward. Anyone with additionalinformation is asked to call the sheriff’s department at (601)833-5231.
