Town ready for annual flea market

Organizers are expecting the annual Wesson Flea Market to be thebiggest one in years.

Flea market organizer Kenneth Furr said he is expecting morethan 150 vendors to set up booths on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Everything from antiques to animals will be available fromvendors.

“There are people coming selling puppies, and jewelry,” he said.”They’ll be selling woodwork, furniture, and lots of stuff likethat. There will also be people in town selling food – it’s hard toremember what all will be there because there’s just so much.”

He said that, as usual, the flea market will also be a haven forpeople looking to sell odds and ends they’ve made andcollected.

“There will be arts and crafts, and of course there will also bejunk,” he said, laughing. “We’ve even got people selling junk.”

Furr said vendors are coming from as far as Louisiana, Alabamaand Texas, and that shoppers will be coming from all around aswell.

“We’ve got people coming just to come to the flea market fromnorth Mississippi and people from Louisiana,” he said. “They’refrom all over Mississippi.”

Furr said he hopes the projected nice weather will bring peopleout in droves to attend the event on the streets of downtownWesson.

“I’d say this is one of the best ones we’ve had. We’ve got morepeople this time than we’ve had for a good while you know,” hesaid. “And it’s supposed to be pretty, I believe, so more peoplemay come out.”

Vendors will be allowed to set up starting at 5 p.m. on Fridayevening, or else they should be there to set up by 6 a.m.Saturday.
