Zora N. Ballard Greer
Services for Zora N. Ballard Greer, of Crestview, Fla., are 10a.m. Monday, Sept. 3, at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home inCrestview with burial in Heritage Gardens in Niceville, Fla.
Visitation is Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mrs. Greer, 76, died Sept. 1, 2007, at her residence. She wasborn in Lincoln County on May 13, 1931, to Hulon and NannieWilliamson Ballard.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,as well as a compassionate nurse. She traveled throughout the worldas an Air Force wife and was a faithful member of Live Oak BaptistChurch of Crestview.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her brothers, Joe,Elroy and Jerry.
Survivors are her husband of 57 years, Murray G. Greer; her son,Keith Greer; her daughters, Janet English and husband Ruben, PamRichardson, Delynn Roberts and husband Darryl; her grandsons, JimDouglas and wife Sabrina, Chris English and wife Amy, AllenRoberts, Wade Roberts and fiance Sara; her granddaughters, AngelaMichael and husband John, Kim Jefferson and husband Miles; hergreat-grandchildren, Christopher Douglas and Landon Jefferson; hersister, Betty Boyd and husband Jerome; her brother, Dale Ballard;her brother-in-law, Mitchell Greer and wife Eunice; as well asnumerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice of Crestview forall of their support.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made toCovenant Hospice or the Live Oak Baptist Church building fund.
Lourine Cowart McGehee
Services for Lourine Cowart McGehee, of Meadville, are 11 a.m.Monday, Sept. 3, at Franklin Funeral Home with burial in MidwayCemetery.
Visitation is Sunday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mrs. McGehee, 90, died Sept. 1, 2007, at Natchez RegionalHospital. She was born in Little Springs on Feb. 23, 1917, to W.H.”Dock” Cowart and Ruby Burris Cowart.
She was a member of Meadville Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, ElmoMcGehee.
Survivors are her sons, Ward and Jean McGehee, of Meadville; herdaughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Ron Williams, of Atlanta, Ga.,Wilda and Riley Temple, of Natchez, and Margy and Joe Rushing, ofMemphis, Tenn.; her sisters, Ellen Cowart, of McComb, and MavisYoung, of Smithdale; six grandchildren; and 10great-grandchildren.
Lorena B. Newman
Services for Lorena B. Newman, of Liberty, are 1 p.m. Monday,Sept. 3, at Liberty Baptist Church with burial in HollywoodCemetery. The Rev. James Sadler will officiate. Jones FamilyFuneral Services is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the serviceat the church.
Mrs. Newman, 97, died Aug. 31, 2007, at her residence. She wasborn in Bogue Chitto on Nov. 22, 1909, to Marshall Brister and DonaMontgomery Brister.
She was a retired secretary for Liberty Baptist Church with over10 years of service. She was a faithful and active member ofLiberty for over 60 years, where she was a member of the choir andwas very active in the W.M.U.
She was a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Junior College where shewas a member of the basketball team. She was a member of theEastside Homemakers Club for over 60 years and was well known forher quilting, handwork and crafting.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Will DavisNewman; her brothers, Malcolm Brister, Lowrey Brister, andMontgomery Brister; her sisters, Mabel McCormick, Elizabeth Maxwelland an infant sister, Elsie Brister.
Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and RogerCarr, of Natchez, Martha and Joe Whittington, of Amite County,Linda and Tom Hill, of Atlanta, Ga., and Paula and Clay Caston, ofLiberty; 10 grandchildren; 17 grandchildren; three sisters-in-law,Irva Brister, of Crystal Springs, Beryl Newman, of Covington, La.,and Janie Newman DeWitt, of Port Gibson; a devoted and specialcaregiver, Deloise Graham, of Walthall County; and numerous niecesand nephews.
