Fire damages bedrooom

A fire that broke out in a home on Clark Travis Lane Mondayburned parts of a back bedroom before being extinguished by the HogChain and Heuck’s Retreat Volunteer Fire Departments.

No one was home at the time of the fire, which officials saidwas caused by an iron.

Heuck’s Retreat Assistant Chief Daniel Farrish determined aninvestigation needed to be conducted after finding the fire, whichignited the bed in the back bedroom, originated with an iron layingface down on a blanket on the floor.

Upon conducting the follow-up investigation, Arson InvestigatorDustin Bairfield said the fire was accidental.

“There was nothing to make you think it was anything but anaccidental fire caused by an iron that was left plugged in,” hesaid.

The residence at 1924 Apt. 2 Clark Travis Lane is owned bySandra Calcote and is being rented by J.C. and Kimberly Treadwayand their three children.
