Man wanted in Hazlehurst apprehended in Brookhaven

A Hazlehurst man wanted on a warrant for aggravated assault wasapprehended in Brookhaven Thursday morning around 9 a.m.
Hazlehurst Police Department Lt. Byram Swilley said AssistantChief Jeremy Thornton was in Brookhaven when he spotted BrandonGilmore, of Hazlehurst, on Brookway Boulevard. Swilley said he didnot have an exact age on Gilmore, but he is believed to be in his20s.
“He was a subject we had a felony warrant on and our assistantchief was in Brookhaven and spotted him,” said Swilley. “Hecontacted the Brookhaven Police Department and then apprehendedhim.”
The apprehension had alarmed some witnesses who reported seeinga man with a gun in a Brookway Boulevard retail shopping areaparking lot, but Swilley said the subject is in custody.
“He was able to get the subject detained and transported toHazlehurst,” he said. “We have him in custody.”
