It may take some verbal gymnastics to say the word, butBrookhaven’s upcoming sesquicentennial will be a great reason forcelebration in 2008.
A steering committee, led by Rita Rich, began meeting last weekto plan for next year’s events to be held in recognition ofBrookhaven’s 150-year anniversary.
Group members said public participation will be key in carryingthrough on a wide variety of ways in which the special year couldbe celebrated. Rich urged members of the public with ideas aboutthe celebration to contact a committee member or to submit theideas to the Chamber of Commerce.
Next year will be an exciting time in the life of Brookhaven. Weencourage citizens to put their thinking caps on and come up withideas to help mark the occasion.
And if you can’t say “sesquicentennial,” just say the ideas arefor the party that’s been a 150 years in the making.
