Brookhaven rolls over Port Gibson

The host Brookhaven Panthers had no trouble Tuesday night atMoyer Field in sweeping a pair of Division 6-4A wins from the PortGibson Blue Wave. The amazing thing was both games went only 2 1/2innings.
The Panthers won the opener 19-0 and came back minutes later totake the finale 20-0. The double header was over before the secondgame was scheduled to begin at 7.
Because of the threat of rain, both coaches and officialsdecided to start the second game right behind the first one.
“It’s a tough situation,” said Brookhaven head baseball coachRandy Spring about the lopsided scores. “You feel bad forthem.”
Spring was able to play everybody and they contributed.
“We only batted four innings,” added Spring. “We got everybodyon the field. We did a pretty good job.”
Brookhaven improved to 17-5 overall and 7-3 in the division. ThePanthers travel to McComb Saturday for another division test.

The Panthers opened the first inning with 13 runs then added 6in the second. After the Blue Waves had a third bat, the game wascalled by the officials.
Paxton King posted the win in the first game with 4 strikeouts,no walks and 1 hit allowed. Working the top of the third inning wasBrandon Foster.
At the plate, Panther catcher Mitch Pappas led with a pair ofdoubles. Bud Britt and Elliott McKee each doubled and singled. ColeNewell and King each rippled a triple. Following with a pair ofsingle each were R.J. Jenkins and Nick Helmstetter.
Brookhaven 20, Port Gibson 0
Brookhaven came out with 15 runs in the first inning andfollowed up with 5 more in the second. Like the first game, PortGibson had a third at bat before the game was called.
Newell posted the win with 1 strikeout and 0 walks. At theplate, he led the way with a triple and 2 doubles.
Contributing to the Panthers’ win with a triple and a single wasPappas. Elliott Warren singled twice. Jarvis Wilburt abd Britt eachdoubled.
