Lundie Johnson

A celebration of life service for Lundie Johnson, a lifetimeresident of Brookhaven, are 7 p.m. today, Oct. 16, at First BaptistChurch. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson, 88, died Oct. 14, 2006, at Silver Cross Home. Hewas born in Pontotoc on Nov. 7, 1917, to Ernest Johnson and SueJenkins Johnson.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a retired grocery storeowner. He and his wife owned and operated Johnson’s Superette forover 40 years. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a member ofFirst Baptist Church and served as general secretary for Sundayschool for several years. He and his wife celebrated 60 years ofmarriage in March 2001 before she passed away in February 2003.

Preceding him in death were his parents his wife, Lurlene CookJohnson; his brother, Chastine Johnson and his sister, ErnestineBigham.

Survivors are his daughter, Jennifer Robin and husband, John, ofKnoxville, Tenn.; and his grandson, Brandt Robin, of Knoxville.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church BuildingFund.
