Services for James Moore Bowman, of Peoria, Ariz., were held onTuesday, Aug., 29, at Palmcroft Baptist Church in Phoenix,Ariz.
Mr. Bowman, 76, died Aug. 27, 2006, at a Phoenix area hospital.He was born in Memphis, Tenn., on Nov. 21, 1929, to Bessie MooreBowman and James Calvin Bowman.
He moved to Amory at the age of 7 where he graduated from AmoryHigh School. He attended Ole Miss, and later graduated from theUniversity of Redlands in California. He spent 37 years workingwith Farmers Insurance, retiring as regional manager of the LosAngeles region. He was a resident of Los Angeles for 40 yearsbefore retiring to Phoenix in 1994.
He was an active church member as a deacon and choir member. Hewas a talented instrumentalist, playing trumpet in various concertbands. He will best be remembered for his love of the Lord and hisfamily. He enjoyed being outdoors, particularly on familycamp-outs, participating in sports, especially golf. He was an avidphotographer.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Mary Jeanne Wooley Bowman,of Peoria, originally of Bogue Chitto; his sons: Dale (Pam) of LaVerne, Calif., and Neal (Debbie) of Glendale, Ariz.; hisgrandchildren: Ryan, Scott, Shelby, Brett, Nate, and Tori; hissister, Martha (Bobby) Wilson; his nephew: Rob (Bari) Wilson andtheir daughters, Sarah, Hannah and Leah, all of Jefferson City,Tenn.
