Deadlines appraches for 29th annual cookbook

Calling all cooks! The deadline is nearing for the 29th annualWooden Spoon Cookbook.
Over the years the Wooden Spoon Cookbook has become a readerfavorite, which is compiled with recipes from cooks from all overthe The DAILY LEADER’s readership area.
With the deadline approaching, the cookbook still has room formore recipes to be added. The deadline is Friday, May 26.
Anyone in The DAILY LEADER or Southwest Mississippi Shopping Bagcirculation area is eligible to enter, except for newspaperemployees and their families. Each contestant can enter one recipein each of the seven categories. They are: Appetizers; Soups,Salads and Fruits; Main Dish; Vegetables; Desserts and Sweets;Bread and Rolls; and For Your Health.
The recipes are looked over by a panel of judges who choosefinalist in each category. Then each finalist is notified toprepare his/her dish for final judging on a specific day and time.After the judging is completed, the grand prize and categorywinners will be announced at an awards presentation on June 15.
Winners in each category receive $50, while the grand prizewinner will receive $300.
Last year’s grand prize winner was Sheila Day for her “SummerFruit Salad with Blueberry Vinaigrette” recipe in the Soups, Saladsand Fruits category. Day had been a finalist in several categoriesin previous years.
Each recipe must be typed or legibly written on one side of an 81/2 x 11 inch sheet of paper. Do not put your name on the page withthe recipe but attach a Wooden Spoon Cookbook coupon or photo copyof the coupon completely filled out with your name, address, phonenumber and recipe name and category.
Hurry! Get out your favorite family recipes and send them intoday. The deadline is May 26.
