Services for Brenell Brister, of Ruth, are 2 p.m. Friday, April14, at Powells Grove United Pentecostal Church in Ruth with burialin Providence Cemetery. Community Funeral Services is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is today from 7 to 9 p.m., at the church, and onFriday from noon until the time of the service.

Mr. Brister, 75, died April 12, 2006, at St. Dominic Hospital inJackson. He was born on July 20, 1930, to Robert Milton Brister andCarrie Amanda Boyd.

He was retired from his work as a carpenter and from the oilfield. He was a member of Powells Grove United PentecostalChurch.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, NellieRuth Barnett Brister; his daughter, Charlotte Brister; his twobrothers; and his six sisters.

Survivors are his wife, Johnnie Brister, of Ruth; his son,Joseph Brenell Brister, of Alexandria, La.; his daughters, ReginaRoden, of Jackson, Rachel Long, of Alexandria, Rebecca Firster, ofForsyth, Ga.; his brothers, James Brister, of Slidell, La., and EdBrister, of Thermopolis, Wyo., his sisters, Ruby Dalton, of Topeka,Daphanie Sumrall, of Foxworth, and Idwa Alexander, of Ruth; hisgrandchildren, Trey Thames, Andrea Lewis, Jennifer Slaughter, JohnRoden, Celena Lewis, Chip Price, Quaid Long, Tarah Long, CameronBrister, Meagan Brister, Thomas Firster and Alan Firster; and hisseven great-grandchildren.
