W. Lincoln sweep Bo’ Chitto

Senior guards Erica Shaw and Britnee Smith tossed in 16 and 14points respectively Tuesday night, leading West Lincoln’s LadyBears to a 44-37 comeback win over the Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats. Thewin also secured No. 2 seeding behind Vicksburg St. Aloysius innext week’s Division 7-1A Tournament at Enterprise.

In the varsity boys game, West Lincoln whipped Bogue Chitto73-50, powered by senior guard Shane Lynch’s 20 points, 4 assistsand 3 steals. Center Bradleigh Rice added 16 points and 10 reboundsto the victory. Jeremy Byrd bagged 15 points and 15 rebounds.

West Lincoln wraps up regular-season play Thursday night atWesson. Bogue Chitto hosts Dexter Friday for division action.

The Lady Bears (15-7, 9-3) outscored BogueChitto 30-21 in the second half after trailing 16-14 at halftime.Candy Herring had 7 points and 7 rebounds in the win. Shaw had 7rebounds 6 steals and 4 assists. Smith made 4 steals.

“This was a total team effort,” said West Lincoln coach LaneYoung. “Our four seniors set up defensively. Talashia Fells andAnnie Rushing gave us some good minutes.”

Bogue Chitto (12-10, 7-4), coached by Christi Terrell, got 14points and 10 rebounds from Kimberlee Thomas. Meleah Brown added 10points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals.

The Bears (18-4, 10-2) also will be seededsecond unless St. Al loses this week. They roared to a 38-27halftime lead over Bogue Chitto and never looked back.

West Lincoln playmaker Aaron Shaw dished out 10 assists andgrabbed 5 rebounds. Stephen Jones had 4 assists and 4 rebounds.

“Defensively, we played well the whole game,” said Coach Young.”Our guards shot the ball well and our posts rebounded well.”

Bogue Chitto (8-13, 6-5), coached by Andrew Smithie, got 17points, 4 steals and 3 rebounds from Alonzo Miner. Keyouna Perkinsadded 9 points and 7 rebounds. Dontae Ratcliff had 6 assists.

Junior Varsity Action

In the JV girls game, BC beat West Lincoln 29-20, led by DoriHal’s 8 points. Keri Easley scored 8 points for the Lady Bears.

In the JV boys game, West Lincoln posted a 57-46 win as AaronCollins scored 20 points. Brett Rushing and Sawyer Wallace added 12points each.

The Bobcats got 16 points from Justin Gaines and 10 from SethAvants.
