Bogue Chitto sweeps Enterprise

BOGUE CHITTO — Alonzo Miner’s game-high 32 points sparked theBogue Chitto Bobcats to an 87-75 Division 7-1A win over theEnterprise Yellow Jackets Tuesday night in Calhoun Gymnasium. Mineralso had 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists.

Also finishing in double figures for the Bobcats were DontaeRatcliff and Antwain Lyons with 13 points, Keyouna Perkins with 12points followed by Nick Hatten with 11 points.

In the girls game, Meleah Brown’s 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4steals and 7 assists directed the Lady ‘Cats to an 81-45 victoryover the Lady Jackets. Also scoring in double figures for BogueChitto were Shasta Porter with 19 points, followed by ChelseyMiller and Kimberlee Thomas with 15 points apiece.

Bogue Chitto 87, Enterprise 75

In boys action, Enterprise (1-17, 0-8) led Bogue Chitto (7-9,5-3) in the first quarter 18-15 before the Bobcats came back to cutthe deficit to 34-33 at the half. A 27-13 run in the third quarterby the Bobcats gave them a 13-point, 60-47, lead going into thefinal frame.

Bogue Chitto, coached by Andrew Smithie, got added support fromHatten with 8 rebounds, 1 steal and 3 assists. Perkins, Ratcliffand Lyons pulled down 3 rebounds apiece. Making 5 steals each wereLyons and Ratcliff followed by Perkins with 4. Seven assists weremade by Lyons.

Miner sacked 4 treys in the third quarter.

“We played real strong in the first half,” said Enterprisefirst-year head coach Josh Bass. “Bogue Chitto increased pressurein the second half and we made too many turnovers. I’m proud of myguys’ effort in the fourth quarter.”

Enterprise finished with three players in double figures. AndrewWilliams led the way with 26 points, Chris Fuller netted 22 pointsfollowed by Corey Everett with 15.

Bogue Chitto 81, Enterprise 45

In the girls contest, the Lady Jackets (9-7, 5-3) were up 19-18over the Lady ‘Cats (9-8, 6-2) in the first quarter. At halftime,Bogue Chitto came back with an 18-8 run to take a 36-27 lead athalftime. A 26-12 scoring spree in the third quarter pushed thehosts lead to 62-39 going into the final frame.

Leading Bogue Chitto off the backboards with 12 rebounds wasPorter, followed by Thomas with 9. Thomas also made 8 steals,followed by Dori Hall with 4. Hall also made 4 assists.

“It was a team effort,” said Bogue Chitto girls coach ChristiTerrell. “Everybody gave what they had and played their part. We’vegot to find some way to make our free throws. But I am very proudof the Lady ‘Cats.”

Enterprise was led by Alisha Mason with 15 points and 7rebounds. Whitney Kyzar fired in 11 points and pulled down 7rebounds. Kacey Rutland pulled down 11 rebounds. Marquisha Frazierfinished with 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists.

“Bogue Chitto played very well and shot the ball well and we didnot rebound too well tonight,” said Enterprise girls coach JillNations. “And if we don’t rebound, we cannot win.”

Junior Varsity Results

Justin Gaines pumped in 20 points and Fred Tillman fired in 12points to lead the Bogue Chitto JV boys to a 34-28 win overEnterprise.

Enterprise got 10 points from Curtis Magee.

In girls action, the Lady ‘Cats held off theLady Jackets for a 39-32 win. LaToya Braxton paced Bogue Chittowith 10 points.

Leading Enterprise with 10 points was Kylie Vincent.
