Board takes up personnel matters, sets holidays

The Lincoln County Board of Supervisors secluded itself for twohours Monday to discuss personnel matters.
County attorney Bob Allen, following the board’s lengthyexecutive session, said he could disclose that the board discussedthree personnel matters. One dealt with the continuing employmentof an employee, while two issues involved pending litigation. Thedepartments where the employees involved in the matters work werenot disclosed.
Brookhaven Police Chief Pap Henderson was invited to stay at thebeginning of the executive session but emerged shortly afterwardwithout comment.
Allen said Henderson had “information to impart” regarding oneof the personnel issues.
In other matters, the board approved a holiday schedule forcounty employees. After a brief discussion, supervisors decided thecounty will match the schedule Gov. Haley Barbour set for stateemployees.
All state and county offices will be closed Nov. 25 forThanksgiving, Dec. 23 and 26 for Christmas and Jan. 2 for NewYear’s Day.
There was some discussion on whether employees should be giventwo days – a Friday and a Monday – for Christmas, which falls on aSunday this year.
“This has been a difficult year for all of our employees, and Idon’t think two days is a bit much for Christmas,” Chancery ClerkTillmon Bishop said.
The supervisors passed the motion unanimously.
