Two people were killed this morning in separate automobilecrashes.

Carmello Genusa Jr., 46, of Hot Springs, Ark., was pronounceddead at the scene of the accident by Lincoln County Coroner ClayMcMorris.

Genusa was traveling north on Interstate 55 in a Ford Rangerwhen “he apparently veered off the right side of the road andoverturned” near mile marker 38 around 3:50 a.m. today, McMorrissaid.

The coroner said Genusa’s family was notified by the MississippiHighway Patrol.

The name of a separate crash victim was being withheld pendingnotification of next of kin, McMorris said.

A woman was killed around 8:15 a.m. today when she rear-ended aloaded log truck on Lott Smith Road about a quarter mile from NewSight Drive, he said.

The Jaws of Life were called to both crash scenes, but McMorriscould not say whether they were needed to extract the victims.

An investigation to determine the cause of the crashes isongoing, the coroner said.
