Subdistrict starts tonight at Keystone

All-stars will be everywhere tonight when the Dixie YouthBaseball Major League North Subdistrict Six Tournament gets underway at Keystone Park. Brookhaven’s American and National LeagueAll-Stars are in the hunt for the subdistrict crown, plus teamsfrom Wesson, Copiah County and Natchez.
Tonight’s first round sends the Americans against Copiah Countyat 6 and Wesson against Natchez at 8. The Nationals drew a bye andawait the winner of the Copiah-Americans game Friday at 6 p.m. Alosers’ bracket game will be played at 8. The double-eliminationtournament continues Saturday night.
The Americans are coached by Ronnie Keene, Ricky Case and ScottButler. Members of the squad are Hunter Fauver, Aaron Durr, SamuelBallard, Cody Beeson, Cade McCullough, Travis Sorrels, DeweyStailey, Joel Patrick, Dustin Treadway, Grant Burke, ChristianKeene, Travis Keene and Tyler Case.
Copiah County is coached by John Pyron. His roster wasunavailable at press time.
The Brookhaven Nationals are coached by Todd Peavey, Jimmy Whiteand Ray Greer. Team members are Stone Underwood, Sawyer Pepper,Mitch Case, Danny Ford, Dillon Newell, Cameron Barry, Jake Shelby,Garrett Greer, Gabe Wilson, Scottie Peavey, Cody White, TylerCocker and Carr Tigner.
Wesson is coached by Jerry Hood, Dale Lowery, Brenda Smith, andEddie Lee Ashley. Wesson’s All-Stars include Matt Smith, BrandonAllen, Hunter Hood, Patrick Boone, Gib Britt, Kyle Cross, MacLowery, Hunter Sullivan, Justin Fowler, Gage Wilson, Alex Goza,Austin Hutson and Jeremy Newman.
11s District at Summit
The DYB 11-year-old district tournament also starts tonight andis set for the Windsor Gay Youth Sports Complex in Summit. Joiningthe Brookhaven American and National League all-stars in thedouble-elimination tournament are teams from Wesson, Summit andMcComb.
In tonight’s opening round, the Nationals play McComb at 6 andWesson meets the Americans at 8. Summit drew a bye and plays theNationals-McComb winner Friday at 6.
The district champion and runner-up will advance to the statetournament.
11-year-old Americans
Brookhaven’s 2005 American League 11-year-old All-Stars areTyler Cooper, Anthony Durr, Blake Fugler, Corey Funk, Will Hickman,Sawyer Hudson, Leighton Jordan, Logan Killingsworth, Jeremy Laird,Brennan Miller, Jacob Philipp, Jeff Rushing, J.D. Sones.
Coaching the Americans are Mark Durr, Chase Fugler and GlennMiller.
11-Year-Old Nationals
The Brookhaven National League 11-year-old all-stars includeHunter Franklin, Will Lucas, Taylor Jones, Drew Jones, Zach Ashley,Eli Gatlin, Lance Spring, Landry Barrilleaux, Daniel Huckaby,Chance Owens, Caleb Dunaway, Austin Travis, Conner Burke.
National League coaches are Tommy Franklin, Keith Lucas and StanJones.
