2 teenage cousins die in accident

Two teenage Monticello cousins were killed Saturday night whentheir vehicle left the road and struck a tree, county officialssaid.
Paul William Huguley, 19, the son of Lloyd and Ilene Huguley, ofMonticello, and Lynn Cupit Huguley, of McCall Creek; and WilliamKane Huguley, 16, the son of Harold and Pam Huguley, of Monticello,were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Lawrence CountyCoroner Sidney Fortenberry.
Paul Huguley was driving a small pickup on Hooker Road nearSandifer Road when the crash occurred, the coroner said.
“He lost control of the vehicle in a curve, left the road andhit a tree,” Fortenberry said. “There was heavy damage to thevehicle.”
Lawrence County Sheriff Joel Thames said the Jaws of Life werebrought to the scene of the accident.
“There was multiple trauma to both victims,” Fortenberrysaid.
Thames said the initial results of the investigation show thatspeed was likely a contributing factor in the crash.
Funeral services for the cousins are planned for 11 a.m. Tuesdayat Monticello United Methodist Church. Wilson Funeral Home is incharge of arrangements.
