Elmer Lee Allen

Services for Elmer Lee Allen of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Tuesday,Dec. 30, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in RosehillCemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 4-9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Allen, 89, died Dec. 28, 2003, in Lawrence County. He wasborn in Lincoln County on May 24, 1914, to Augustus Allen andArtemis Furlow Allen.

He was a retired farmer and construction worker. He was a memberof Harmony Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Helen LanellAllen Allen; a son, Tommy Allen; a daughter, Linda McGuffee; twosisters; three brothers; and four great-grandchildren, DonnyColeman, Amy McGuffee, and Hailey and Hannah McWhorter.

Survivors are his daughter, Pat Carr of Alexandria, La.; hissons, Johnny Allen of Monticello, and Kenneth Joe Allen of Duluth,Minn.; 17 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Daisie Monroe Crockett

Services for Daisie Monroe Crockett of Natchez are 1 p.m.,Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Cannonburg withburial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from noon until 7 p.m., with family hourfrom 6-7 p.m., at Williams Mortuary.

Mrs. Crockett, 57, died Dec. 23, 2003, at Jefferson CountyMedical Center in Fayette. She was born in Natchez on Aug. 26,1946, to Ace Monroe and Ella Dee Monroe.

She was disabled. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church,and attended Ladell High School.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her stepfather, CharlieTyler; and three sisters, Rosie Monroe, Violet Holmes and EithaTenner.

Survivors are her sisters, Charlene Griffin of Chicago, Ill.,and Ella Kaho of Natchez; her brother and sister-in-law, Collin”Sam” and Barbara Monroe of Brookhaven; her stepsister and husband,Mary and Roosevelt White of Chicago; her stepbrother and wife,Charlie Tyler Jr. and Helen of Boyle; her godbrother, Charles Whiteof Natchez; her aunts, Bernice Smith and Cora Ella Hoye, both ofNatchez; her uncle, Chris Thomas of Ferriday, La.; herbrothers-in-law, Huey Holmes and Charlie Tenner, both of Natchez;her former brother-in-law, Adell Griffin of Chicago; a devotedcousin, Charles Thomas of Natchez; and a host of nieces, nephews,other relatives and friends.

Palestine Thames Hemphill

Services for Palestine Thames Hemphill of Tylertown are 11 a.m.,Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRoberts Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 5-10 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hemphill, 100, died Dec. 27, 2003, at Walthall GeneralHospital. She was born in Lawrence County on June 20, 2003, to JoeThames and Oma Sauls Thames.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a sisterand a brother.

Survivors are her stepdaughter, Ada May Schofield of Mendenhall;two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; threestepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces andnephews.
