BHS brings ‘Charlie Brown’ to stage

Need a few laughs this weekend or just looking for some good,clean entertainment, then Brookhaven High School Auditorium willprobably be the best place.
More than 40 students have worked hard to bring “You’re A GoodMan, Charlie Brown!” to the stage for all the enjoy. Performancesbegin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a general admission of$10 and reserved seating in the first few rows for $12.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the high school or at thedoor.
“We still have tickets available, and the auditorium holds 626,so I think we’ll still have room Saturday night if people decide tocome spur of the moment,” said BHS Choral Music Director AdrienneBarbuto, who is serving as assistant director, choral director andhouse manager for the production.
Barbuto said people should come to the play prepared to laughand have a good time.
“It’s really fun. It’s an upbeat show and it’s very, verycomical,” she said.
The musical is based on the comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles M.Schulz, and portrays a day in the life of Charlie Brown, pullingfrom a number of snippets from the cartoon.
“I feel like everybody in the audience will be able to empathizewith Charlie Brown and the different situations he goes through,”said Barbuto.
She complimented the students’ hard work and efforts to producesuch a quality show.
“They’ve all been very involved with it,” she said. “We startedin January with auditions and the lead roles have had rehearsalthree afternoons and one evening a week for the past sixweeks.”
Cast members include Jason Boyd as Charlie Brown, Stephen Fiskas Schroeder, Stephen Davis as Linus, Marlee Price as Lucy,Elizabeth Huff as Patty, and Rebecca Campbell as Snoopy.
Chorus members consist of Danica Boyd, Jake Godard, MatrionHenderson, Jennifer Morse, Jessica Morse, Katie Moss, Myles Moss,Laura Smith, Patricia Smith, Lacie Turpin, Kristina Wallace, CandiWhite and Stacy White.
The technical crew for the production is Nutrosalyn Butler,Derrick Chism, Chad Davis, Nick Downs, Natasha Ford, AliciaSanders, Matt Scott and Joshlin Smith.
“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown!” will feature an orchestramade up of Cynthia Tamasco, Kristen Williamson, Katie Diamond, JaneGraves, Demetrice Lewis, Alan Stilwell, Michael Crossley, GailFreeman, Andrew Scott, Steve Russell, Josh Vance and EricShackelford.
