A family memorial service for Genevieve Farris Brown ofBrookhaven will be held at a later date. Harrigill Funeral Home isin charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Brown, 86, died Jan. 19, 2003, at her residence. She wasborn in Brookhaven on Aug. 31, 1916, to Laurin Farris and MaryApplewhite Farris. She was a graduate of Brookhaven High School andreceived her B.A. degree from Whitworth College. She attendedDraughons’ Business College of Little Rock, Ark., and the AmericanInstitute of Banking.
She was a retired vice-president of Trustmark Bank with 36 yearsservice. She was past owner of Brown’s Printing. She was a memberof First United Methodist Church, where she had served as secretaryof the administrative board, as a Sunday school teacher for 30years, and was a member of the finance committee.
Other memberships include the National Association of BankWomen, the American Institute of Banking, Brookhaven Chamber ofCommerce, area chairman of Brookhaven Beautiful, and trustee of theladies auxiliary of the VFW. She was state president of theMississippi Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs,serving five years on the state level.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles Brown; herparents; and her grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Rufus RevelApplewhite.
Survivors are her daughters, Marsha Brown of Brookhaven andMarilyn Brown and husband Cliff of Calgary, Canada; her specialfriends, Verona Tuten and Cola McGee; and one grandchild, CrystalMidori Tuten of Brookhaven.
Memorials may be made to the Brookhaven Animal Rescue League orFirst United Methodist Church.
