Services for Louis James “L. J.” Johnson of Brookhaven are 2p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, at Williams Mortuary Chapel with burial inCarver Heights Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from noon until 7 p.m., with family hourfrom 7-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson, 88, died Dec. 17, 2002, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Oct. 14, 1914, to EliasJohnson and Emma Johnson.
He was retired. He was a member of New Vision Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, LentielCalloway Johnson; his brothers, Charlie Johnson, Johnny Johnson,Taylor Johnson, Roy Johnson, Albert Johnson, Ameal Johnson Sr., andRudolph Johnson; his sisters, Annie Johnson, Marie Johnson, andPilgrim Johnson; and his grandson, the Rev. Andrew James JohnsonJr.
Survivors are his daughters, Minister Helen J. Herring, CarolynThrasher, Mary Lee Brister, and Brenda Pittman, all of Brookhaven,Janice Calloway of Staten Island, N.Y., and Delores P. Calloway ofVirginia Beach, Va.; his sons, the Rev. Andrew James Johnson Sr. ofBrookhaven and Lawrence Calloway of Maywood, Ill.; his sons-in-law,the Rev. A. C. Herring, the Rev. Garlee Pittman, and HardyThrasher, all of Brookhaven; his daughters-in-law, Diane Johnson ofBrookhaven and Angela Diane Calloway of Maywood, Ill.; hissisters-in-law, Minister Eunice Henderson and Nellie ParkerJohnson, both of Brookhaven; his brother-in-law, Walter Hendersonof Brookhaven; and 26 grandchildren, and a number ofgreat-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces andnephews.
