An effort to share the news of Loyd Star Attendance Centerbrought the school a five star award recently for its first-classwebsite.
Loyd Star’s website was recognized two quarters in a row byiHigh.com Top 100 Websites, which rates school websites across thecountry based on website criteria and amount of traffic on thewebsite.
“One of the reasons we were picked was because of the number ofhits we get. The kids really like looking at their pictures,” saidChris Maddox, who designed the website and updates it on a regularbasis.
The Mississippi High School Activities Association sponsors thewebsite, which can be found at www.mississippi.ihigh.com/loydstar.The pages found on the site display pictures, stories andannouncements about the latest events at Loyd Star.
“I try to attend ball games and take digital pictures for thewebsite and get stats on each game,” said Maddox.
She also relies on teachers and parents to submit news andpictures about school events or make suggestions on how to make thewebsite even better.
Maddox, who also serves as a bookkeeper at the school, puts agreat deal of time into the website each week. She’s thankful forthe support of Loyd Star principal Terry Brister, who has expressedmuch interest in the website.
“I think it’s fantastic,” said Brister about one of the red andwhite dominated web pages Maddox pulled up on her computerscreen.
Maddox plans to take pictures of the senior class’ upcominggraduation for the website, which can be accessed by relatives andfriends all over the world.
She hopes keeping the latest information on the website willgenerate enough traffic to maintain top 100 national ranking.
