Services for William “Bill” Matthews of Kerman, Calif., were 10a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Pentecostal Tabernacle with burial inFresno Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Matthews, 81, died Aug. 3, 2001, in the Kerman hospital. Hewas born in Lincoln County to Blanche and Bill Matthews. He movedto Kerman in 1946.

He was a retired farmer and gardener.

Survivors are his wife, Daisy Givens Matthews of Kerman; hisson, William Matthews Jr. of Lemon Cove, Calif.; his daughters,Katherine Reagan, Lillian Masaoka, and Aline Teel, all of Kerman;his half-sisters, Alice Lofton of Kentwood, La., Hazel Allen, EttaLou Sandidge and Juanita Lofton, all of Brookhaven, and YvonneSmith of McComb; his half-brother, Hugh V. Watts of Chalmette, La.;and 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and sixgreat-great-grandchildren.
