B. Atkins, Garrett on First Team

WESSON – Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Brandon Atkins andJosh Garrett have been named First Team NJCAA All-Region 23.

Atkins, a sophomore from Natchez, played infield and outfieldfor the Wolves this season. He led the Wolves in batting with a.376 average including 5 home runs, 50 RBI’s and 17 doubles.

Garrett, a sophomore right-hander from Silver Creek, posted a6-5 record with an ERA of 4.85. He pitched in 20 games for theWolfpack. Garrett has signed with the University of SouthernMississippi.

Selected to MACJC First Team All-Star were Brandon Atkins andfreshman pitcher Derek Atkins. Atkins, a right-hander fromThibodeaux, La., posted an 8-3 record for the Wolves this seasonwith a 3.92 ERA. He pitched in 15 games this season and led thepitching staff with 73 strikeouts.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Jacob Blakeney of Mendenhall wasnamed to the Second Team All-State. A Mississippi State signee,Blakeney compiled a 7-5 record with a 2.79 ERA.

The Wolves, coached by Keith Case, finished the season with a34-26 record. They won the NJCAA Region 23 championship and wererunners-up in the NJCAA Central District/Super Regional.
