Franklin County splits doubleheader

Franklin County split a doubleheader with North Pike Mondaynight, as the Lady Bulldogs won 1-0 and the boys fell 2-1.
The Lady Dawgs (6-7, 3-3) and the Lady Jags fought to a firsthalf scoreless deadlock. After numerous attempts for goal in thefirst half, the Lady Dawgs scored the only goal of the game on a12-footer by senior forward Amy Newell.
On defense, Franklin County was led by sophomore Katie Johnsonwith 11 blocks.
The Dawgs spotted North Pike an early 2-0 lead, then the Herringbrothers, Clint and Cliff, paralyzed the Jaguars with severaltricks and hits, resulting in Cliff Herring’s six-foot goal.
North Pike was led by Richard King with one goal and oneassist.
The Bulldogs resume play Thursday night when they face divisionfoe Wesson The girls game begins at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 7:45p.m.
North Pike will host Natchez tonight with the girls kicking offat 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 7 p.m.
