VICKSBURG – Guard Cody Mitchell pumped in 17 points and the WestLincoln Bears roared to a 57-35 Friday night victory over the St.Aloysius Flashes in Division 7-1A action. The Bears got 15 pointsfrom forward Luke Lofton and 13 from center Carlos Johnson.

In the varsity girls game, St. Al beat West Lincoln’sfoul-plagued Lady Bears 55-50, led by 6-foot center Molly Richardswho dropped in 26 points.

West Lincoln resumes play Tuesday, hosting the Salem Wildcatsfor division action.

The Bears (15-4, 7-0) were minus seniorplaymaker Jamie Sisco who sprained an ankle in practice Wednesday.Leading the Bears on the backboards was Johnson with 11 rebounds.Kalis Fells had 9 rebounds.

Mitchell added 7 steals and 6 assists to the victory from hispoint guard position.

“I thought our kids played well without Jamie,” said WestLincoln coach Jason Case. “They played hard and with a lot ofconfidence.”

West Lincoln led the Flashes 24-14 at halftime.

The Lady Bears (6-13, 4-3) were in early foultrouble and three starters fouled out. On the backboards, guardDana King and center Hannah Payne each had 7 rebounds. King alsomade 5 steals and 7 assists.

St. Al avenged an earlier loss at West Lincoln. The Lady Flashesgot 21 points from forward Kristen Patrick.

“Early foul trouble really hurt us,” said Coach Case. “(Hanna)Roberts got three quick ones.”

In the JV boys game, West Lincoln beat St. Al 52-40, ledby Juraj Drahos with 13 points. Drexter Adair netted 11 points andBrooks Smith 10.
